The Regional Children's Hospital in Kropyvnytskyi (KNP “Kirovohrad Regional Children's Hospital”) has installed the advanced Siemens Viva-ProE analyzer — a state-of-the-art medical device designed to accurately measure the levels of essential medications in a patient’s blood. This enables doctors to perform precise laboratory monitoring for pediatric patients receiving high-toxicity treatments.
The analyzer, valued at UAH 3,000,000, was acquired to implement therapeutic drug monitoring for patients being treated with methotrexate, cyclosporine, and valproic acid. These drugs are critical in treating cancer, autoimmune diseases, and epilepsy, and their effectiveness depends heavily on maintaining the correct drug levels in the child’s body.
The installation was reported by the International Charity Fund “Angel of Life”.
Previously, children requiring such treatment had to travel to Odesa — the only location where such laboratory monitoring was available.
“In the past, children from Kirovohrad region undergoing high-dose chemotherapy had to travel to Odesa. No local laboratory offered this kind of testing,” said Olha Prysiazhniuk, co-founder of the “Angel of Life” fund.
Now, with Siemens Viva-ProE, this advanced treatment is available directly in Kropyvnytskyi — in a familiar hospital setting, close to home, and without logistical burdens or stress for families.
The project was made possible thanks to Techiia Foundation, which fully funded the equipment purchase, in partnership with the “Angel of Life” charity fund, which organized procurement and logistics.
According to the hospital:
