Anaerobic workstation Whitley A20
Provides an environment for processing, incubating and examining samples without exposure to atmospheric oxygen. This workstation can be used for both anaerobic and microaerobic microorganisms. It creates ideal conditions for growing anaerobes in less than 2 minutes and microaerophiles in just 15 seconds. The station can accommodate 240 x 90 mm Petri plates while maintaining a large working area. For emergency anaerobic incubation, it can accommodate up to 270 plates.
This workstation is equipped with two oval multifunctional glove ports that act as mini-gateways, each capable of moving 10 x 90 mm Petri dishes when the user inserts their hands.
A side-loading ‘mailbox’ sample system is also available, providing an easy way to quickly introduce individual samples to the workstation. The A20 is equipped with a touchscreen that provides the user with an intuitive interface for easy control and operation of the workstation.
The A20 can be used for both anaerobic and microaerobic processes by simply changing the gas supply.
Advantages of using the Whitley A20 anaerobic station
Anaerostat | Whitley A20 workstation |
Fixed capacity for 9, 10, 12 or 48 plates | Holds up to 240 plates |
High cost of consumables | 1 cylinder of mixed gas lasts approximately 15 weeks |
Sealed system | Single plate insertion system allows access to individual plates at any time |
Need to prepare the plates on the table under aerobic conditions | Improved isolation performance when prepared under anaerobic conditions |
Condensation | Controlled environment with adjustable humidity |
Limited space for samples in case of emergency | 270 plates can be incubated in an emergency |
Anaerobic conditions are lost when the anaerostat is opened | Plates can be tested and subcultured under anaerobic conditions |
Samples may need to be left on the bench until a sufficient number of plates are collected to fill the anaerostat | Samples can be incubated immediately - thus improving results |
